So,
how did all of this happen? A respected vocalist, instrumentalist, and
writer, JOE PIKET has written for movies, cable and television, and
performed with members of some very well-known bands, including some
of the musicians on his solo CD, NINE TIMES FRAMED. On NINE TIMES FRAMED,
Joe wrote and sang about people, events, family, friendship, and his
father. FREDERICK PIKET was an internationally renowned composer, a
brilliant man, and a great father. "Losing my father when I was
18 was heartbreaking, but, looking back, it was the start of a journey,
from one set of circumstances to the next, with music as the only constant
in my life." On NINE TIMES FRAMED, Joe "framed" some
of those circumstances in song. The critical acclaim he received for
NINE TIMES FRAMED led to the formation of his current band, JOE PIKET
AND THE STORM. "People kept asking where they could hear these
songs live, so I decided it was time to put a band together and get
out and play again. When I'm on stage with these guys, I know it was
the right decision. Not only are they all great musicians, but the chemistry,
the communication, has been incredible too. One night we decided that
"No Heartache Tonight" just wasn't cutting it, so, on the
spur of the moment, I started playing it on the guitar (instead of the
piano). It was completely different, more percussive, and the guys picked
right up on it. We've been doing it that way ever since. I wouldn't
have dared to do something like that if I didn't have so much confidence
in these guys." The formation of THE STORM led, in turn, to a new
CD, TEMPEST. "We had to get something out to the radio stations
and the newspapers in a hurry." Some of the songs on "FRAMED"
were re-released on "TEMPEST", but there are also several
new tracks recorded with the band. There is also a Beatles cover that
features Joe playing solo piano. "Yeah, well, I wanted to put something
on there to say, 'oh, this guy really can play.'" Yeah, and he
can write too. Just listen... |

JOE
PIKET AND THE STORM, having already been described as “a more edgy
Billy Joel”, and “the Bruce Springsteen of Long Island”
are moving on into new territory. Their latest recorded project, the 14-minute
epic, “THE WATERS OF LETHE”, has already been compared to
the music of King Crimson, Yes, and Queen. “Lethe” is currently
being released to radio stations and print media around the country, and
the sub-5-minute “radio-edit” version is available for
downloading from the band’s web site, joepiket.com. Audiences in
New York City and on Long Island have been blown away by JOE PIKET AND
THE STORM’s energy, their musical integrity, and their lyrical originality.
In the past year, they have opened for acts such as Dee
Snider of Twisted Sister, Randy Jackson of Zebra (twice), and Jason Bonham,
son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. They have charted on
CMJ, and music from their first CD, TEMPEST, is currently being played
on most of the college stations in the tri-state area, as well as nationally.
Rave reviews for TEMPEST, have appeared in most of the local papers, including
Newsday, Good Times, Aural Fix, and L.I.E., as well as many on-line publications. |

Joe
Piket (ASCAP writer and publisher) makes his living in New York as a working
musician (keyboards, vocals, and guitar) playing and recording his own
songs as well as other people’s material. He has written for cable
and television, and he has been fortunate enough to meet and work with
some very talented and fairly well-known people, some of whom have helped
him record his songs. Joe writes songs that have musical and lyrical integrity,
and as more people become familiar with his work, his popularity as a
songwriter and performer continues to grow. |
